May 2 (SeeNews) - Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) said on Thursday its after-tax profit from operations in Romania fell 7.2% year-on-year to 79 million euro ($84.6 million) in the first three months of 2024.
Raiffeisen Bank Romania's operating income reached 196 million euro during the year's first quarter, up 5.5% on the year, RBI said in an interim financial report.
RBI's net interest income from Romanian operations came in at 153 million euro in the review period, up by an annual 9.1%, while net fee and commissions income inched up by 1.8% to 41 million euro.
RBI's loan portfolio in Romania contracted by 3.6% year-on-year during the first three months of 2024, reaching 8.135 billion euro. Deposits from customers climbed 7.7% on the year to 11.269 billion euro during the same period.
At end-March, RBI operated 283 branches in Romania, 12 fewer compared to end-March 2023, and employed 5,064 people. The lender's customer base counted 2.3 million people at the end of the first quarter.
