UPDATE: Man involved in exchange of gunfire captured in Tennessee

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has announced the capture of Jessie Ray Curtis, 36, in Tennessee on Thursday.

According to deputies, Curtis sustained a gunshot wound to his back during an exchange of gunfire stemming from an incident on Ella Way in Bowling Green on Monday, April 22.

Curtis has active warrants for first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

The sheriff’s office is asking the public to call 911 and report Curtis’ location if seen. Curtis may be armed. Curtis has multiple tattoos, including on his face, neck and back.

The WCSO says it received a call about an accident on Murphy Road on Monday, where they the caller stated a vehicle was trying to leave the scene.

Deputies say while responding, another caller reported a shooting on Ella Way.

The sheriff’s office says these calls were related to a disturbance and gunfire exchange on Ella Way. Deputies say another exchange of gunfire happened down Murphy Road as those involved fled in vehicles.

Witnesses stated several people ran to fields in different directions before deputies arrived, according to authorities.

A black Enclave was seen leaving the scene toward Highway 240, deputies say. Deputies say they searched the area, which led to a foot pursuit and the arrest of Joshua Cullbreath, who had outstanding warrants. Cullbreath was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The black Enclave was located in a barn on Vance Lane, according to authorities. Deputies say they obtained search warrants for a residence on Ella Way and involved vehicles.

The resident of Ella Way, Jess Fitzgerald, was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and trafficking in marijauana.
