Shale gas business collapsing
December 4, 2017
Oil and gas giant San Leon dispatched its last two concessions for exploratory shale drilling in Poland as it sees the country's shale business collapsing, CEO of San Leon's Polish unit Pawel Chalupka tells the daily Puls Biznesu.
San Leon's decision follows the abandonment of shale gas licenses by state-owned fuel blue chips Lotos and Orlen, the daily writes, citing the statements from the firms' press offices.
Poland was not able to attract enough capital and thus increase its chances for successful commercialization of the drillings, Chalupka explains. The company finds some consolation in deals inked with Canadian Horizon and British Gemini to conduct a joint search for hydrocarbons in Poland, CEO says.
