Changes for Canada Day parade route

Canada Day celebrations are set. 

On June 30, free entertainment and activities take place at Muskoseepi Park from 8 p.m. to midnight before the fireworks over the reservoir.

Activities will include two stages of entertainment by local performers, inflatables by In the Zone Party Rentals, food and community vendors. The night concludes with the signature fireworks display over the reservoir at midnight to officially kick-off Canada Day.
 
According to the City, fireworks may be cancelled in the event of winds over 40 kilometres/hour or a lightning storm.

Canada Day Parade route changes
 
To accommodate construction on the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project, the annual Canada Day parade route has been changed.
 
According to the City, the parade, on July 1 will move along 108 Avenue, starting at Hillside School and head west to finish at the Leisure Centre.
 
The parade begins at 94 Street and 108 Avenue and ends at 105 Street and 108 Avenue. 
 
The parade runs from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Proud to Be A Canadian”.

The parade will proceed rain or shine.
 
Post-parade activities
 
After the parade, the free celebration will continue at Muskoseepi Park until 6 p.m.
 
Official opening ceremonies commence around 2:30 p.m. on the amphitheatre stage with introductions and dignitary speeches. Live entertainment on two stages will follow. 
 
There will also be food vendors, community groups, inflatable bouncing castles, face painting and other children’s activities and a giant cake.
 
The Grande Prairie Museum is also hosting a free community carnival.
 
No parking will be available at Muskoseepi Park during the events. The gates will be closed from 7 a.m. on June 30 to 7 p.m. on July 1.
 
Free Park N’ Ride shuttle services will be available on July 1, sponsored by New Horizon Co-op.
